Elena’s Children’s Park

Located in the University Park neighborhood, this three quarter acre triangle park serves as a focal point to intersecting streets.  Residents encouraged the city to buy this lot and turn it into a community park before a tract home builder bought the lot and located a residence on the lot. The park is dedicated as a memorial to children who have lost their lives. A ‘story pit’ serves as the park’s centerpiece which is placed in a garden like setting.  A meandering walk around the ‘story pit’ highlights children’s games. A butterfly garden buffer’s this area from the street.
