Querencia Retirement Community
Location: Austin, Texas
Size: 38 Acres
Project Architect: CSD Architecture
Querencia is a 38-acre development nestled in the rolling hills of the Texas Hill Country in Barton Creek. The campus has been master planned to integrate with its neighbors – a golf resort and hill country residences.
The campus consists of villas, two Independent Living Towers, and Independent Commons which connects the towers, and a Healthcare building which has Memory Support, Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing. The campus also includes a spa building with an outdoor pool where residents can exercise, receive massages and visit the salon. The outdoor pool was a first of its kind for a senior living development, but with the highly detailed covered pavilion over the pool, this became a social gathering place for many functions of the residents. The siting of the buildings was heavily restricted by environmentally site sensitive design guidelines. The buildings were cut into the site to maintain the natural views and give prominence to the natural setting. The majority of the native trees and plants are undisturbed in order to minimize the project’s impact on the site.
